Fighting the good Fight of Faith

It is Saturday morning and I must rely totally on Jesus.  The process has been difficult, but in the scheme of things, if you have never gone to where I have already been then you can appreciate what I am saying.  Sure there are millions of people who have been on this journey, but this is my personal journey and it has taught me lessons that can help someone else.

When thinking about fighting the good fight of faith,it came with scriptures for encouragement of my soul.  I Timothy 6:12 says:   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

In each of my seasons there are so many things I’ve had to endure.  This fight and my strength to speak to myself about a good fight.  When the circumstance requires you to look beyond that situation and fight on because God is on your side is refreshing.  Today, is a day of fighting and believing God that all things are possible.  The song writer Isaac Watts, penned these words in 1721 and it is a war that let’s me know with confidence that I can make it.  As to this particular morning, I will hum this song and know that yes I am a soldier.

  1. Am I a soldier of the cross,
    A follow’r of the Lamb?
    And shall I fear to own His cause,
    Or blush to speak His name?
  2. Must I be carried to the skies
    On flow’ry beds of ease,
    While others fought to win the prize,
    And sailed through bloody seas?
  3. Are there no foes for me to face?
    Must I not stem the flood?
    Is this vile world a friend to grace,
    To help me on to God?
  4. Sure I must fight if I would reign;
    Increase my courage, Lord;
    I’ll bear the toil, endure the pain,
    Supported by Thy Word.
  5. Thy saints in all this glorious war
    Shall conquer, though they die;
    They see the triumph from afar,
    By faith’s discerning eye.
  6. When that illustrious day shall rise,
    And all Thy armies shine
    In robes of vict’ry through the skies,
    The glory shall be Thine.
