In the year 1898, Johnson Oatman, Jr. wrote the lyrics to this song:
“I’m Pressing on the upward way, new heights I’m gaining everyday, still praying as onward bound, Lord place my feet on higher ground; Lord lift me up and let me stand, By faith on Canaan’s tableland; A higher plane than I have found, Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”
I woke up this morning singing this old familiar hymn in my spirit. It reminded me of the spirit of being unfocused in this life can make a lot of unsuccessful choices. But the writer sings about pressing upward no matter what trials you have gone through, you must keep pressing forward. Everyday I must ask the Lord to give me power to stay focused because it is so easy to become unfocused. It is easy to become unfocused when you thought that after I survived cancer, then my body would return back to normal or should I say the way it used to be. That is not the case because this body is different. Healed from lymphoma, yes I am! Constantly reminding myself that I have gone through some major things and come out of some major things.
In the book of Philippians 4:8, it is written; Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Lord Give Me The Power To Stay Focused!
