John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
There is no greater love than the love of God. He loves us unconditionally so much so, that He gave His only begotten Son. I highlighted the word begotten because it struck my spirit this morning. Lots of times we read words without clear understanding. Not only that, because we have heard them so much we just keep reading as if the word does not exist. So I felt the need to give the definition of the word begotten because of its importance to us today.
1. (especially of a male parent) to procreate or generate (offspring).
2. to cause; produce as an effect: a belief that power begets power.
3. Word “begotten” generally suggests the idea of originating from or being produced by someone else.
So if I am to consider once again this particular verse that says that Jesus, the Son of God, is a begotten being or person. The word begotten in the original Greek language is monogenes denotes a combination of two words, onos” which means “only” or “alone,” and “genos” which means “of the same nature, kind, sort, species.”
A better translation might be “only one of its kind” or “only unique” or just “only,” but not “begotten.”
Jesus Christ, the Son of God is a unique and one-of-a-kind being.
“A lone being, a unique existence, the only one of its kind, that which has no duplicate.”
Now that the word is clearer, then my mind began to press a little harder to see if I could fully explain what it was that was mulling around in my head. Here are the morning thoughts: In all of God awesomeness, God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit HAS NO DUPLICATE!!!!
If we are to have the mind of Christ, we must shun away from trying to be like someone else. You are unique in character, because that is just how God created us. Individually, we have so much that God has given us, but we choose to try and be like someone else. Let’s take the time to find out who God created us to be and be the best person God has ordained you to be. There are hidden treasures that He has given us that and we have not even experienced yet, but if we follow Christ, revelation of what He has created in you will begin to surface.
